What are the benefits of participating in the Mrs. Utah United States Pageant?
Unlike similar pageants, we offer comprehensive workshops to help you prepare and gain a better understanding of how to compete. Our prizes are phenomenal and have been generously donated by the many sponsors of the Mrs. Utah United States Pageant. The full list of prizes will be listed on our website. Our production is professionally choreographed and we will have a number of special performances for entertainment. This truly is an amazing pageant!
What is a platform and how do I choose one?
A platform is a unique cause you have taken interest in and should be one you would like to promote if you were to win the title of Mrs. Utah. It is best to choose something you have a great interest in and/or a desire to help or change in the community. Some platforms have ranged from Cancer awareness, combating postpartum depression, staying physically fit, or awareness of illiteracy.
Are the judges looking for someone who has already done a lot of community service or has accomplished a lot with their platforms?
No. The judges understand that being a wife is already a tremendous role in your home and community. They will be looking for a woman who demonstrates dedication in her personal life and has a desire to improve her community through her personal platform. As each woman and platform is unique, the judges will look at who implements those qualities most effectively.
Is there a talent portion of the competition?
No, there is not a talent portion of the competition. The Mrs. Utah United States Pageant emphasizes contestant involvement in their respective communities. We know that personal talents will be utilized to this end and want to focus on the contribution to community instead.
If I win the title of Mrs. Utah, do I need to obtain my own sponsors again for the National competition?
We will provide the winner of Mrs. Utah with a cash prize but we strongly advise her to pursue additional sponsorships for nationals. The Winner’s travel accommodations to the national competition including her personal airfare, hotel, and meals to include breakfast and lunch will be provided. Any personal expenditures while at nationals, such as new wardrobe items will be at the expense of the contestant. The new Mrs. Utah will receive a wardrobe allowance however, which is provided by our pageant outfitter.
What are the responsibilities as Mrs. Utah?
Although we encourage our Mrs. Utah to get out in the community and promote her platform as much as she can, she is able to set her own pace. As Mrs. Utah you will have certain responsibilities but the amount of time spent in this endeavor is completely at your discretion. The new Mrs. Utah United States will be required to attend nationals for the entire week. It will also be required to fulfill responsibilities with our partner, Utah’s Own, including selected appearances.
Are we required to attend the workshops?
The only mandatory workshop is the final one which will include our choreography and walking patterns for pageant night. You will also be required to be at interviews the day before the pageant and the rehearsal all day which is held the day of the pageant.
When are the dates of all the workshops and the pageant?
The dates for the workshops are: January 9th 9am-12pm, February 6th 9am-12pm, March 13th 9am-12pm, April 10th 3pm-8pm. Pageant Interviews will be held the day before the pageant on April 24th from 5:00pm-8:00pm, and the all day pageant rehearsal on May 1st from 8:00am-4:00pm, with the show beginning at 7:00pm. - Workshops will be held at Hidden Valley Country Club. When is the deadline for late applicants?
The last day to become a participant of the deadline is March 15, 2010. This is very important because contestant bios and photos will already be published in the program book after this date.
I have never participated in a pageant before, does this matter?
Absolutely not! We welcome all married women the opportunity to express themselves through our wonderful program! In fact, 70% of our contestants have never been in a pageant before.
Is there an entrance fee?
The entry fee is $950. The Mrs. Utah United States Program takes careful planning and tremendous man hours to produce. In addition the winning contestant is provided an exceptional prize package. Included with the entry fee, all contestants will enjoy luncheon workshops, Mrs. Utah “Layers” T-Shirt, gift certificates, an exclusive photo shoot (family included) and much more!
What form of payment is accepted?
We accept cash, check, and all credit cards. Credit card payments will be managed through our website under the “Make a Payment” tab.
How is the Mrs. Utah United States pageant judged?
The Mrs. Utah United States pageant is judged in 4 different categories. Private Interview (33%), Swimsuit-Full piece (33%), Evening Gown (33%), and On-stage question (10%) for the top ten finalists.
How do I become a contestant in the 2010 pageant?
Simply fill out the online application under the “Apply” link, send your registration fee of $50 to Mrs. Utah U.S., P.O. Box 902012 Sandy, Utah 84090, or by using the “Make a Payment” tab and you will then be contacted by one of our staff members!
Is there professional coaching available for my preparation?
Yes, in addition to four workshops that are provided, we also offer a list of women whom you may contact for individual coaching.
How are my sponsors recognized for donating money to me as a contestant?
You will have the opportunity to list your sponsors on your personal ad page and you can also sell additional space to them in the program book. We offer a great incentive for selling additional ad space; you receive half of the sale! Ads are offered as small as a business card up to full size, 8×10 pages. A new feature we’ve added this year is the opportunity for sponsors to purchase commercia1 time during the pre show and intermission and also the opportunity to purchase a color full- page ad.
How may I promote my personal blog or website for myself?
Upon completion of your photo shoot, we will create your profile on our website which will include your picture and bio. You will be able to list your personal blogs and/or websites here as well.
Where can I find wardrobe items for the Mrs. Utah competition?
We have an official pageant outfitter who can help you with anything you need, including shoes, evening gowns and jewelry. Although we highly recommend going this route, there are plenty of clothiers online and in town who provide pageantry accessories. Another excellent resource is contacting previous title holders or contestants who would be willing to lend or rent dresses, shoes, jewelry, and swimsuits.
What are my payment options and do you offer any discounts?
We have three different payment plans which include paying in full or either a two or three month payment plan. Discounts are offered to previous contestants, paying in full, referring a friend who signs up and competes, and for selling ads either as commercial time or in the program book.
